This was one of the funnest cuts iv done in a while! Her smile says it all.

The amount of gratitude and appreciation I have for this day. August 1. Going back 21 years when I heard the words “you have cancer” my world shattered, my life as I knew it was over, or so I thought. I was young, scared and in a terribly abusive marriage. When I got home from the doctor that day I sat with my husband at the time and his mom and poured my heart out and all I got was your faking it. From that day on I knew I had to make it out of this. I couldn’t let those people of those thoughts win. As time went on I ended up doing a year of failed chemo and then on to 6 weeks of failed radiation. I was then offered the opportunity to go to @cookchildrens in Fort Worth. As my mom and I sat in this well lit room with sterile white walls and doctors in this stiff white coats I remember them saying. Well Jennifer we have one choice here and it’s to do an experimental trial. It is either going to work or it’s not. We need you to sign these papers acknowledging that you have a 50-50 chance to live or die. I’m that moment again I knew only one thing and it’s to survive and those words I choose not to hear just like the words of my husband at the time and his mother. So we started the chemo and that was followed by a life saving bone marrow transplant. And on the same day I was diagnosed 2 years prior I got my transplant and a new birthday. That trial saved my life. God gave me a second chance. I have used that second chance everyday to remember and be thankful. To this day I still remember the smell of sterile alcohol, the sound of a beeping iv machine, the flickering lights of that hospital room, the sound of the cracking door, screams from down the hall of a 8 year old little girl in pain, who unfortunately didn’t make it. The ruffling of the paper in my file and the smile and compassion of my nurses who comforted a young scared girl who was just fighting for her life. Today I’m cancer free 19 years and in the blink of an eye I’m here and safe and loved and grateful. Thank you to everyone who has been there supported me and loved me along this journey, it’s truly just beginning. (Ps I ended up divorcing that scum bag) 🩷🩷
